Becoming a Boat2Boat Photographer could hardly be easier and it is not only fun to do, but an opportunity to develop your photo skill while enjoying your boating. All new photographers must complete Registration and pay the fee (currently just $15.00 for a full year’s use of the Boat2Boat Gallery, incl; storage, image tagging and sales channel facility). Having your name, contact details and agreement allows us to accept your images on-line and to know that you are the copyright owner or that you represent the owners of all photos placed for exchange to our customers.

How does it work?

When you take a boat photo make a note of the boat and location! Every image is loaded to specific Categories- Sail, Motor, Event or General (a range of general image sub categories). Matching your image to one of these adds to the collection and adds search criteria. When you actually upload a boat image to a selected category you are asked to complete a series of drop down lists and boxes. Adding ‘meta data’ like this helps identify every photo for search use- the boat name, location, country, date, boat type etc; all information about each shot adds value and increases the potential of the boat owner or crew finding and buying your shot.

Why the Annual Fee?

The annul fee helps us avoid any advertising, pop up or other on-line interferences to our community activity - we prefer it that way and so do our Members! However, a registration process and application of a small fee significantly reduces misuse, the loading of unsuitable images and those ‘waste of time’ people that turn up everywhere these days to spoil open, unguarded on-line communities- we see that more and more services are adding small fees to reduce such abuse.

Questions of quality?

We are not photo perfectionists! Anyone with a reasonable ability to spot a good shot, get focused, find a nice layout and use a digital camera can start collecting boating images to upload and share with the people in the shots- anywhere in the world. Images uploaded are automatically split into levels of up to 4 quality choices- from low resolution PC screen use to higher resolution A4 or 10” x 12” digital printing…or maybe better. The upload system separates every image uploaded into a small thumbnail and then either 1,2,3 or even 4 sized / quality/ pixel products- so long as the original digital file is large enough. Remember every boating shot could be valuable and precious to those in it!!

Professional or advancing amateurs can take Boat2Boat Photography up as a development of your present skills and interests…. and by selling your images through Boat2Boat you can earn cash through PayPal on-line credits for every image sold under strict Private license. After the basic administration and purchase / tax charges are removed, we aim to credit Photographers 50% of the remaining income for any shot purchased on line. (usually comes to approx. 35% of total fee charged).
